Based on an antique design, this thread caddy is the pefect way to organize and store your favorite threads. We have designed die cut cardboard pieces that are simple to cover with fabric and easily fold into place. This kit is designed by l’uccello and made in Melbourne.

You will need
1 Fat Quarter (50cm x 55cm) of light weight fabric. When considering your fabric selection, we recommend a busy print, preferably without a pale background.

This quilt features a variation of the classic Jacob’s Ladder block & a wonderful scrappy mix of fabrics typical of many quilts from the 1950’s. It features our fabric range Ruby’s Coverlet, a collection of reproductions of our favourite vintage feed sacks and fabrics from the early to mid-20th century.
Finished size approximately 74 1/2” wide x 74 1/2” length. (Approx 189cm x 189cm)
Fabric Requirements
FOUR PATCH BLOCKS
(2.5” squares) 1.5 metres of fabric made up of a variety of different fabrics, as many as you like. Make sure to include some larger prints, all in medium to darker fabrics. If purchasing fabric specifically for this project, select a variety of fat 1/8ths for larger prints and fat 16ths for smaller scale prints. Allow extra if you prefer a lot of fussy cutting.
(1.5” squares) 1.1 metres of fabric made up of a variety of different fabrics, as many as you like. Select medium to darker fabrics, focusing on smaller scale prints. If purchasing fabric specifically for this project, select a variety of fat 1/8th or 16ths. You may also wish to use some of the same fabrics that you have selected for Piece A.
(1.5” squares) 1.1 metres of fabric made up of a variety of different fabrics, as many as you like. Select light coloured & patterned fabrics, focusing on smaller scale prints. If purchasing fabric specifically for this project, select a variety of fat 1/8ths or 16ths. You may also like to use some of the fabrics you have selected for the triangles.
TRIANGLE BLOCKS
This block is made up of 2 triangles, 1 plain colour, (we chose pink) and one in a lightly coloured & patterned fabric, we chose 5 different fabrics to continue the scrappy theme.
You will need 1.7 metres of the plain (pink) fabric for triangles and thin outer border (this includes an extra 20cm to allow for mistakes in cutting etc.)
And 5 x 30cm of light coloured & patterned fabric for the other triangles (this will also leave you some spare fabric suitable to use for Piece C in Block 1 if preferred)
Binding: 8 metres of bias binding or if you prefer to make your own, 60cm of 110cm wide fabric.
