Vintage French Seedpacket Needle Keep -Dahlia

This lovely old style scrappy quilt is a reproduction of a vintage quilt in the l’uccello archive. Sourced from Massachusetts the original quilt features a wide variety of feed sack fabrics and the backgrund fabric is similar in tone to the one used in our sample.

Made with Liberty and Linen in our Melbourne studio, filled with Spicy Orange pot pourri.

This beautiful hexagon shaped sewing box is a striking example of craftsmanship and skills dating back to the early 1800’s. The sides fold out once the internal cord has been released exposing ample storage for your treasured sewing tools, threads & accoutrements. Dont be afraid to be bold with your  fabric choices, take your time and enjoy the process.  The sewing box is quite generous in size, when closed it measures 20cm D x 25cm W x 29 H.

You will need

Fabric A (outer lid,  inner lid & inner base) -0.5m

Fabric B (outer walls, gussets, pockets & elastics) -1.5m

Fabric C (inner walls) 25cm or 1 Fat Quarter.

Note: The fabric measurements are based on fabrics 112cm wide with a non directional print. Please also allow for more fabric if you need to fussy cut. We recommend using 100% cotton, in a quilting weight.

Perfect to store your favourite sewing tools and threads. Included in this Slow Stitch Huswif is the pattern and instrucions to complete this project in your choice of fabrics and embellishments. The finished approximate measurements are: Unfolded 38 x 28 cm. Folded 13 x 28 cm. A colaboration between l’uccello and Lisa Mattock.

You will need

A collections of fabrics and embellishments for the outside huswif panels and inner pockets equivalent to approximately 30-40cms of 110cm wide fabric. You will need to allow extra if you plan to do lots of fussy cutting.
