This quilt features some classic old quilt blocks, combined with a super scrappy collection of fabrics, it is designed to complement l’uccello’s larger floral fabrics and our wide collection of smaller prints and wovens.

Kit includes:

Over 75 different fabrics, larger scale prints are generally fat 1/8th or larger, smaller prints and wovens are mostly fat 16ths. This collection of fabrics includes many of the fabrics in our original quilt as pictured on the pattern. Each kit will be very similar but may vary slightly for the one photographed , almost all of the fabrics are cotton, a small amount contain linen. There is over 7 metres of fabric in total, this should be sufficient for the quilt, however it will depend on how much fussy cutting you prefer. We do recommend adding any special fabrics from your stash that you think complement the selection, the scrappy look of this quilt only gets better with more fabrics.

The quilt was machine pieced but can also be done by hand if that is your preference, the kit includes 3 templates to make cutting out easier either way.

The finished size of the quilt is approximately 2 metres x 1.8 metres,

Please note , it was not possible to include all of fabrics in the original quilt as some are old, out of print fabrics and some are from our new range Jardin De Printemps due to arrive in July.  However, many of the original fabrics are in the kits and they present a lovely selection very close to the original.

This album style quilt is named Mon Ami, which translates to My Friend, and it features appliqué images and some blocks that symbolise the bonds of love, friendship & good fortune.

The quilt features 5 classic old quilt blocks and 5 lovely needle turn appliqué blocks, combined with a beautiful scrappy collection of fabrics. It is designed to complement l’uccello’s larger floral fabrics and some of our favourite medium – smaller size prints and wovens.

We will be launching the new patterns & kits at the Quilt NSW exhibition, at Rosehill Racecourse, September 19-22, all pre orders will be posted on our return to Melbourne on the 23rd of September.

A scrappy quilt featuring 2 antique style blocks & a border inspired by the architectural features of our former store in the Nicholas Building.

Too many fabrics are never enough, we have used over 100 glorious fabrics including many Liberty tana lawns in this scrappy quilt and refreshed its traditional style with this eclectic mix of fabric types and styles. Although machine pieced it can easily be adapted if you prefer hand piecing. The quilt features 2 old blocks, one a modification of a Centre Diamond block and the other is a traditional Amish block, (as referenced in Barbara Brackman’s Encyclopedia of Quilt Patterns) and the wide border is inspired by the decorative cornice on the ceiling of the room in The Nicholas Building where l’uccello was once located. The room number was number 5, so we thought that name would be a nice way to remember the old store.

Finished size approximately 78” wide x 78” length. (Approx 198cm x 198cm)

Kit includes:

100 different fat 1/16ths -26 of which are Liberty Tana Lawn, each bundle will include most of the fabrics inour original quilt as pictured on the pattern.

Bias binding made from our own l’uccello designed woven fabric

Backing fabric is not included. For the backing of our quilt we used two different l’uccello linens, to replicate this, you will need 2.2 metres of Virginie DV5150 and 2.2 metres of Rosalie in Blossom Pink DV5155. We used the full width of Virginie and the rest in Rosalie so that the composition is asymmetrical.

If you chose to do the whole back in one of the linens or if you prefer regular quilting fabric you will
need 4.4 metres.

A beautiful bundle of  l’uccello’s complete range of linen/cotton fabrics.

These designs are from our Rue Floriane,  St Etienne and Comptoir De Toile ranges, re-printed in slightly larger scale on a lovely linen/cotton base cloth.

This range is perfect for stitcheries & embroidery, slow stitching, patchwork and doll making. They are also excellent for light to medium weight home furnishing projects such as tables cloths, napkins, curtains, lampshades & cushions.
