If you have made our Belles Fleurs Quilt and can’t decide on a binding fabric like us, here is a quick “how to” for our scrappy binding, made from left over scraps.
Cut strips of left over fabrics 2.5” wide at random lengths, we cut ours in a variety of lengths roughly 3” to 8” long.
You will need approximately 7.8 metres in length all together so start with approximately 80 pieces.
Sew all of the pieces end to end, check it is long enough to go around the quilt.
Fold the strip wrong sides together, pin to the top edge of the quilt with the folded edge facing the quilt centre and the two raw edges lined up with the edge of the quilt.
Sew all the way around the quilt, approximately 3/8ths of an inch in from edge of the quilt.
Fold the binding back over the edge of the quilt and around to the back of the quilt, hand stitch into place.
